My name is Laura Bower and I am a pre-school teacher living in Westchester, NY with my husband Steve, three kids (Avery, Stella and Pierce) and dog Clover.
After graduating from the University of Richmond (Go Spiders!) with a degree in Leadership and Communications, I worked for a public relations firm for over ten years in New York City before deciding to stay at home to raise my little ones. It was during this time that I rediscovered my love of children’s literature and started seriously on my writing journey. (My own kids and the kids I teach are constant sources of inspiration!)
My picture books include THE IMPOSTER illustrated by Kerisa Greene (Spring 2024) and EMILY SNOOK, THE WORLD’S SMALLEST COOK illustrated by Rekha Salin (Fall 2024) — both from Gnome Road Publishing. HAIL THE TAIL, a lyrical non-fiction book about animal tails, illustrated by Elisa Chavarri, will be coming out with Beach Lane Books in Spring 2027, followed by CHEERS FOR EARS, a lyrical non-fiction book about animal ears, illustrated by Elisa Chavarri in Fall 2027.
When not writing or reading, I enjoy planning trips to new places, live theatre/comedy shows, game nights, hot (and iced) tea, walking Clover and baking.
I am a member of SCBWI, Julie Hedlund’s 12×12 Challenge and an amazing group of other 2024 debut authors (PB SOAR).
